On an average, Bob Engler delivers between 10-20 meals a day. This continued during the shut down. He often works with a runner who delivers to the door. It is common for people to ask for additional help like taking out the trash.

During the pandemic, there were fewer volunteers to deliver meals. He describes how in the delivery of meals, he tried to establish connections with regular clients who are often alone. One woman he remembers fondly would sing a song to him when her meal was delivered. He responded by singing to her.

He describes working at Meals on Wheels as rewarding and mutually beneficial. He has been participating for 13 years.
