39: Lucy Brutto

Restaurant Owner, Mimmos

Mimmo and Lucy Brutto are the owners of Mimmo’s restaurant. 

The restaurant had to be fully closed for two weeks than could offer “take out” only during the pandemic. They now provide outdoor dining. In running the restaurant, they put in approximately 70 hours per week.

They estimate that they have known many people who have had covid because they deal with the public. Fortunately, neither of them contracted the disease.

In addition to the stresses of running a restaurant, they both have senior parents and were very concerned that they would expose their parents to covid. They did everything they could think of to make the restaurant safe. Recently, the front end of the restaurant was revamped with plexiglass so that there is no direct contact with people.

They are very intentional about giving back to the community and recognize that they are an important part of the community. They both wish people to respect one another no matter what.
