Jake Lewis, an industrial engineer at High Concrete, says his work didn’t change much during the pandemic. He did not miss any work time; however, he had to change jobs during the pandemic.

He felt that  dealing with the unknown each day was very difficult, especially when people were missing from work. He didn’t know if those missing were healthy or ill and it was disconcerting. Jake knew he needed to maintain clear focus when he was working so that he wasn’t hurt and so that he didn’t hurt others when working.

Jake chose to quit smoking during the pandemic. He feels fortunate that he has remained healthy throughout the last year. He is an outdoorsman who destresses by going back to nature. He spent a good deal of time during the pandemic at Blue Marsh and going to the woods refreshed him. Often the regular paths he used were crowded and he had to go further into the woods for solitude.

Initially, Jake worried about his children when no one knew what to expect. Surprisingly, his children did better with virtual education and adapted well and he is very grateful for that.
