Jesus Tavares is a medical assistant at Berks Community Health Center. As a caregiver, he saw many cases of covid. In addition to being a caregiver, Jesus has helped vaccinate many people.

He believes the isolation of patients during the pandemic was very difficult for patients as well as for their families. Though the safety protocols were necessary, he saw how much being alone affected the elderly people he served.

His workload frequently increased because fellow workers became ill and each person had to cover for one another. It was a stressful time for all.

Taking walks on break time helped him deal with the stressors of his job.

He believes that Covid-19 gave him perspective. He feels he needs to do the things he wants to do now and not procrastinate for a later date.
